When it comes to Blue Topaz – ‘brilliant’ really would be an understatement for us.
Doug and I can honestly say that we were completely blown away with the ladies of Blue Topaz. Not to mention the number of compliments from our guests about how much they enjoyed hearing beautiful, live music again. We really can’t thank them enough for making the ceremony so special. One of my favourite parts of the ceremony was listening to Blue Topaz play ‘All you need is love’ – it was truly stunning.

London Wedding Musicians – live music at your wedding

Having been in the business of providing London wedding musicians over the last 18 years we have had the pleasure and privilege of attending hundreds of wedding ceremonies and receptions in London, the home counties and beyond. Our London wedding musicians have accompanied elopements (bride, groom and 2 witnesses), small weddings of 6-20 guests right up to large celebrations of 300 guests! The wedding outfits were different, as was the the guest list, the choice of venue, the type of food…Every celebration has been unique but each one has shared the same understanding..

Nothing beats live music at your wedding!

Why is this?

  1. Pre Ceremony Welcome / Guest Arrival

Take the start of your big day.. the ceremony and perhaps the most formal part of the proceedings. Your London wedding musicians can create the perfect atmosphere by setting the scene with some beautiful calming string sounds whilst your guests arrive and take their seats. If your guests don’t know each other that well or for quieter parties it can be a mini performance and something for everyone to focus on before the ceremony itself begins. For more spirited crowds it adds a lovely background vibe to their conversation and catching up.

We booked the string trio for our small wedding last week. From enquiring to the big day, the team at Blue Topaz were warming, friendly and professional. They couldn’t do enough for us. The music was beautiful and created a wonderful atmosphere, it made such a difference with us having reduced guests due to covid. We can’t say thank you enough!!

2. Ceremony

Walking Down the Aisle:

The all important aisle walk and entrance! This is the moment many brides and grooms have been dreaming about.. that very special moment when your guests are asked to stand and one or both of you make your entrance! This moment deserves the most special of musical choices and keeping it live means that our London wedding musicians can time everything perfectly for when you get to the front, sensitively bringing the music.

Have a favourite song in mind? As well as being a professional violinist and founder member of Blue Topaz Strings, Director Libby is a composer and string arranger, meaning she can work with you directly to create a string version of your favourite song in your preferred style for this very special moment.

Signing of the Register:

For civil ceremonies the signing of the register will take around 5-6 minutes. For church ceremonies allow a little longer around 10 minutes. Your guests will remain seated whilst you complete the legal paperwork and it is therefore a lovely point to have some live music from our London wedding musicians for their entertainment. If you are not having an official signing due to having a humanist wedding or similar you could choose to include a special moment for us to play a musical performance of a song that is important to you both, or for example to accompany another part of your ceremony eg sand and water ritual.

Whichever is best suited to your ceremony, we can help you choose the best songs as you prefer.

Blue Topaz played at our wedding on Tuesday 5th April 2022 and we cannot recommend them enough. They were entirely lovely, played beautifully and even accompanied a family friend to sing as part of our ceremony, which was a complete dream. Their music was beautiful and enabled us to make some incredible memories that we will cherish for the rest of our lives. If you are considering booking a string group for your event, look no further – BlueTopaz were outstanding in every way. Thanks again, ladies!

Exit:

Your first song as a married couple! This should be joyful and celebratory! Our London wedding musicians will be on standby at the ready as you are announced as a married couple so they can time the first chord exactly with your exit from the ceremony. We always make sure to play out every guest as they follow you to the next part of your day!

3. Drinks Reception:

Let’s get the party started! With pop and modern covers making up a large part of our song list (the most part if you choose our Trio or Quintet!) our London wedding musicians can really bring the vibe with a fun, upbeat  song list as you enjoy a drink and a chat with your guests.

We have entertained countless parties with our string covers of well known songs with many guests playing ‘guess the tune’ and winning and losing bets! For the trio and quintet the inclusion of our double bass means that the pop and jazz songs really come to life as our bass players incorporate the slap bass technique – slapping the strings to create an extra buzz and vibe that will bring the room to life. With our traditional string quartet or violin and cello duo our Bridgerton vibe is very popular as we play many songs featured in the popular Netflix series.

You can let us know your favourites to include for this part of your day or design your own playlist from start to finish. All our songs are listed on our website at the bottom of each page and we add new songs all the time so it’s worth revisiting!

4. Wedding Breakfast:

It can be lovely to have live strings continue a live musical vibe throughout your wedding breakfast. Our London wedding musicians can take the energy down here performing discreet and beautiful classical pieces, easy jazz or maybe some pop ballads whilst you enjoy your special meal and dinner conversation.

Oh Anna, it’s gorgeous! Thank you so much for all the time and effort you have put in to get this just right for us. It sounds so elegant and romantic. I am very glad to have this as a memento of our wedding day – it is very special. Thank you again, P.S. I can’t stop listening to it!

5. First Dance:

What could be more romantic than a string version of your first dance song?! Our London wedding musicians have played live for a number of first dance moments. It really is the most gorgeous and beautiful way to add romance, poignancy and unique memories that will last for ever..

As an additional option we can make a recording of your song in advance so you can practise in the run up to the big day and then also have this special string recording to keep forever afterwards! See above for Chloe’s lovely testimonial!

So there we have it! I hope this blog has been a useful insight as to why you might choose to book our London wedding musicians and enjoy live string music for your most special of days!
